Indonesia celebrated its first Independence Day on August 17 (Saturday) in the country’s new capital, Nusantara. However, due to the ongoing construction work in many parts of the new capital, Independence Day has been limited to celebrations, according to the BBC. The Indonesian government was expected to inaugurate the new capital on the 79th Independence Day. But currently Indonesia is facing financial difficulties to settle this city. Indonesia has decided to move the capital from Jakarta to Nusantara due to overcrowding, earthquake risk, flooding caused by rising sea levels due to climate change and increasing pollution.
